*Warning: Lots of FURIOUS ANGER. And bad language. Gratuitous, even.

I had a very difficult and emotional day yesterday as I went to a fertility doc for the first time. It’s also my first true gyno appointment in over 13 years; I’ve done my well-woman care with a local midwife. He was everything I hate about doctors: aloof, brusque, slightly dismissive. He didn’t listen very well. NO sense of humor. In listing all ( Read more... )

1st - hugs!

2nd - Fuck that doctor. He's in the wrong specialty if he can't summon up a better bedside manner to deal with people who are HURTING! Trust me, I've gone through the gamut of awful doctors (including one who wanted to operate on my lady parts after 1 exam and seeing no records). There are good doctors out there. I can't recommend any in TX, but if you want to go to MS, I can recommend a great one in Jackson.

Does Houston do a "100 best Doctors" thing? If so, check it out - you might find a better one on the list.

3rd - Next time you need someone to hear you, you can call me. I promise no platitudes. I'm so sorry. But you're right - this is NOT your fault. Not at all. You have every right to be made at whoever, holy or not, that you damn well please.

Also, I am excellent at gratuitous bad language. If you need someone to yell, "that fucker" right along with you, I'm your girl.

My mom likes to call me when she's upset at her fellow teachers because I'll call them bitches. I'm just that kind of friend.

Ba-haha! You know, there's a lazy stupid and godless site on Ravelry (another site I'm on for knitting), and they are the best for gratuitous bad language (tigerwillow can attest to that.

I like the 100 best doctors idea. And depending on how this goes, I might just try the 1 in Jackson. Turns out an RE recommended to my husband (highly - by another doctor) is covered by my insurance and treats both genders (I think). I'm going to try to get an appointment with her, too, once I've finished the thyroid testing this guy ordered. At least the cost for that will go toward our deductible.

I second the 100 best doctors idea - those lists tend to be pretty good!
