Mundane Stuff

Oct 21, 2008 07:58

This morning I did not want to get up, but Susan had spent the night so that we could run together, so I did.

By 6:30, Susan, Burgundy, and I were at the Junior High track to start over on the Couch to 10K. Especially on the heels of Sunday's 5K, this was a breeze for Burgundy and I. Susan had to walk a couple of times during the running segments, but this was her first time in over a year to run, she said.

Susan's house was badly flooded - water was over the countertops - during Ike. She's been sorting through and inventorying her life's collections in her driveway ever since, not to mention ripping out soggy sheetrock and generally working on the house. Life has been very rough to her in 2007, and I suspect getting up at 6:30 AM and running felt refreshingly mundane for her. I hope we're able to continue to offer the mundane.

I took my lunch yesterday (I'm so proud!), and right now I'm waiting for eggs to boil so I can take a chicken and egg salad sandwich to work today. I'm following Kelly's suggestion and forcing myself to eat at least one fruit serving every day. Veggies are much easier for me than fruit. So the grapes are packed, and now it is time to mix up all of the chicken salad save the eggs. Later y'all!
