Lana'd had a lovely day out and about. She'd gone back to the coffee shop, On Holy Ground, and then wandered around the city some more, getting to know it better.
But now she was home and curled into a comfy chair with a cup of tea. Some cool jazz was playing in background and fit perfectly with the murder mystery she was reading.

He consulted the PDA one more time, matching the address for the house he was looking for. He parked and walked to the door, ringing the bell and hoping she was home.

She saw Lex through the peephole and found herself automatically checking to make sure she was decently dressed before opening the door. "Lex? Hi... I, um... wasn't expecting you."

She turned back to him still a little confused, but smiling, "Um... did you want to come sit in the living room? And can I get you a drink or something?"

She looked up at him with some concern. "Please, come sit." She gestured to a spot on the couch. "A friendly face, huh? Well, I'm glad to help then. Do you need a listening ear as well? You know I've always been willing to listen."
She stopped herself and bit her lip. This wasn't her Lex. But God, he just *seemed* so like him. "I mean, well... you know what I mean." If he was anything like the other, he would.

But what of this Lana? Lex felt like his head might pop, and he nearly collapsed onto the couch.
"Yes," He said weakly. "I very much do know what you mean."

"Just, sit here with me." He said quietly. "And we can pretend that we come from the same Earth. And that everything I learned lately, is false. That's all good."
"Maybe pretend we are back in Smallville?" He smiled.

"Though," she said with a rueful smile, glancing around her, "This isn't much like the mansion back home."

He smiled at her and reached up to to touch her cheek. "So, tell me about what you've been up to."

"Settling in. Getting to know the town a little before I start work. Oh! And I almost forgot! I got a job working for you - well, for LeXcorp as an office admin. I haven't met with the woman yet to finalize the details, but I'm all excited about it."
