Lana had handwavily invited everyone still playing a bunch of people to stop by on Sunday to help decorate and celebrate the upcoming holidays. She'd also told her friends to invite along anyone else they might want

Duce had heard about the party at Lana's, and was feeling both social and festive. Unable to think of an appropriate hostess gift, she settled on an old stanby - when in doubt, bring booze. Little plastic dixie cups nestled in disposable Gladware containers like bright, edible jewels. Red, green, and clear jelloshots jiggled as she made her way to the door. Duce was amused at the jello - the red was cherry, the green was apple, and the clear was orange. She'd mixed them so strongly that the jello was barely able to set.
Confounded by the door, with her hands full, she lightly kicked the bottom in a staccoto beat and waited for someone to let her in.

Duce grinned back, "Hey Lana. Thanks. Yeah, they're jello shots. Uh. They may be just a little bit strong. I cut them at 3/4 instead of 1/2 strength. Got a choice of vodka, everclear, or rum."
She tossed her head back, disrupting an inquisitive snake's investigation of her left nostril. "So how goes the tree-wrapping so far?"
Re: Come on in!mslanalangDecember 17 2006, 22:45:47 UTC
Lana couldn't help watching the snakes, despite her best intentions, but she did manage to pull her attention back to Duce. "The tree wrapping is a bit stalled at the moment, but it will all get done."
She smiled at her. "Hey, let's find a place for that stuff so you don't have to keep carting it around."
Re: Come on in!medusae_xDecember 17 2006, 22:56:54 UTC
The snakes were sluggish and torpid from the walk through the cold air. Most of them were curled on Duce's scalp like little reptilian pincurls. "Aww, well, it'll pick up once people get here. I know the big retar..I mean, Aaron, took the night off, so he and Sonia will probably be here eventually."
Under her breath, she muttered, "If they can stop sucking face long enough to get out the front door, anyway.."
Returning to a normal volume, she glanced around for the treat table, "Do you have anywhere designated for the flammable drinks? It'd be a shame if someone drank these on accident."
Re: Come on in!mslanalangDecember 17 2006, 23:11:52 UTC
Lana grinned, but didn't comment on Duce's muttering. "Right over here," she said, leading the way to an open space on the counter. "I'll put up a warning notice."
Re: Come on in!medusae_xDecember 17 2006, 23:13:25 UTC
Duce set the gladware on the counters and opened it, tucking the lids neatly underneath. "Oh, I can do it, if you have a pen and some paper? I mean, I know what's in 'em and stuff."
Re: Come on in!medusae_xDecember 17 2006, 23:19:48 UTC
"Great! Thanks!" Duce folded the paper and tore it in half, folding each half down the middle to make tented signs. On each, she wrote, "Warning: These drinks are highly flammable. DO NOT LIGHT ON FIRE!"
Poking the dixie cups with a finger, she nudged some space right in the middle, where the signs would be visable, and inserted the signs. "There."

Hitching her backpack further up on one shoulder, she grinned and nodded. "Will do, thanks!" Grabbing a jello shot, she looked around the room and wandered toward the tree.

The four months since they'd left the Tropolis seemed like an eternity. The circumstances that had taken them back to Pittsburgh in such a rush had been mostly good ones, but there was a part of Ben and Michael that missed this place. Lana had mentioned the party she was planning in passing in her handwavey e-mail, and the more they thought about it, the more it sounded like a good opportunity for a brief surprise visit to their adopted sister.
Entering through the cracked-open door, the boys looked around for people they had known from their brief residence in the city.

Ben bear-hugged her, picking her up off her feet for a moment or two before setting her down. "We missed you."
"Yes, yes we did. We couldn't not come visit you." Michael planted a kiss on her cheek before handing her the gifts they'd brought for her.
Ben gestured to the second one. "Neko is for good fortune."
"Hunter is taking winter session classes," Michael explained, "so he couldn't come, but he said to say hello. He knows a little about you from what we've told him."
"So how are things?" Ben raised an eyebrow, a teasing look in his eye. "Keeping up with the yoga? Or should I even ask?"

She glanced down at what Duce was holding and grinned. "Please tell me those are jello shots!" she exclaimed. "Just what every party needs!"

She led the way further into the house. "And if you feel inspired to do a little Christmas tree decorating... Feel free."

She smiled up at them. "How is Hunter doing? He's still there, so that has to be a good thing, right?"
"Yoga..." Lana flushed a little, "Well... I bought a DVD. It's not the same, but they haven't started another beginner's class yet, so..."
