As it turns out, some of you are still here, and I could not be happier about that!
Hello loveys!
So the new job is silly. I am officially working for a man who has known me since I was three. He used to work for my father, years ago. He tells me how much I look like my mother. Tells me that when he worked for my father's international company, my mother hand wrote birthday cards for every single one of his employees. Every one of them. Every year.
I am the Operations Manager for a quickly growing software distribution start-up. I process orders for the North American market, meaning Latin America, the US, and Canada. It is a math-infested computer stare down, and I (shockingly) love it. I work in an office with only two other people, both of them pretty young ladies who majored in this shit in college. I am the older woman in the office. It is ridiculous.
My fourth day on the job, the woman who was training me as her replacement was fired for embezzlement. It was a little bit insane. The next three weeks were spent drowning in the year of paperwork she had yet to file. Suffice to say she was not awesome at this gig. We have finally caught up to the point that customers are not yelling anymore. Much better.
In a year, I will be moving across the country to New York City. The job will follow me there. We will either set up an office there or I will work from home in Brooklyn. I am thrilled.
James, the gorgeous boyfriend partner love, is wonderful. We have been together for seven months and counting. 2500 miles are not as impossible as I had expected them to be. We are so good at this. He is so good at loving me. So good.
The show that my gorgeous roommate, Tanya, runs in San Francisco every month is incredible. You can read about it
here. If you are anywhere near San Francisco on a night that The Lit Slam is happening, you should come to it. It is truly one of the best shows I've been to, and I'm not just saying that because I am totally biased. It is a beautiful lovely show in a beautiful lovely venue called Viracocha at 21st and Valencia. It is not the only show happening at that venue. Sam Sax's New Shit Show is also there every other Thursday, and it's pretty fucking great too. The venue has the most incredible bathroom I've ever been in. I want to live there.
My life has been so lovely lately. Even the hour each way commute is filled with sheep and wildflowers. It does not suck.
Tell me about things that are lovely in your life.
Love, Kat
