Back on the upside

I don't work at Tyson anymore. No more factories for me. I'm not such a big fan of being worked until I drop. My wrists and hands starting hurting very badly at the Tyson factory and then I was told we'd be working 7 day weeks back to back for 5 weeks. No.
I now work at Wal-Mart. I'm a stock-clerk for the bakery department. The freezer causes pain in my arthritis/fibro/carpal-tunnel hands and wrists, but I get three days off a week to rest them and am provided the necessary means (read gloves and wrist guards) to protect them. I'm trying to find ways to treat them as well. I use Ibuprofen and Naproxen Sodium, as well as Chammomile and Cumin teas. I've also been using a ton of mentholated muscle rub. Let me tell you something right here and now - ALWAYS wash your hands before you use the bathroom when you use this stuff on your hands! OWIE!
Since I have had to take a drop in pay, I'll be moving to government housing, but the apartments are actually very nice. The only person who won't be happy about the move is Shadow, my kitty.
Other than that, the only thing going on is that my family and I will be giving an award away in on my father's behalf this coming Saturday.

My father passed away 19 years ago as of December 2007 of an unknown, aggressive cancer. He was a devoted paramedic, medical lecturer and studying to become a doctor. The year he died, they enacted an award in his name for those citizens and professionals who, through an act of bravery, saved the life of another in Champaign County, Illinois. The award was initially for paramedic-oriented persons, but has come to encompass civilians who assist in car accidents, fires, and other such accidents. The award itself is called the Martin Manson (my father's name) award. We leave this Friday to go to Champaign and hand the award out to this year's entitled recipient. I am so proud and so happy! I'm also a little embarassed though. They want us to bring pictures. I think that, in total, we have 3 pictures of my father. It's not that he wasn't photogenic. He just didn't like to have his picture taken. Also, the people who are organizing the event haven't been in contact with us but a couple of times. We don't even know what hotel we're staying at. My brother was the one they contacted, and he refuses to give us their number so we can call and ask our questions. ARGH! Family politics are a pain.

I'm also reading a great book about the 4 basic personalities that Hippocrates outlined. It's really helping in my interpersonal affairs and my own personal well-being is benefiting tremendously as well. I think they need to teach this stuff in school.
