Last night's options:

Marc's lake house
Jeff's
Zach's (with Lori!)

...

I really thought New Year's Eve would be the *big* story for my Dukies when I'd get back ... I mean, last year's at DG's was too much fun. Not a ton of my close Springs friends were in town this year (these are the nights where Tara and I would do the most party damage), but most of the people I wanted to hang out with went to Marc's ... and as much as I would like to drive an hour away to hickville ... yea, no. Luke called to get me to come over to Jeff's, but ah, I know that would only allow high school drama to flood back to my mind. In the midst of AIMing and talking on the cell, trying to figure out my night, my dad came home with four boxes of brand new poker chips. Ah yes, that's when I knew I should tell everyone I'm staying in and spending it with the family; there's nothing like bringing in the new year with a Kubagawa tourney of Texas Hold Em. I'm thankful I stayed in ... my mom is probably the sweetest, most brutal poker player I will ever meet. She giggles when she takes your chips. How cute?!

Homare and I played some more afterwards, in between figuring out why my cell phone was being so difficult. I had missed a couple of (drunk) calls from people, a few messages from my fellow Dukies, and a text message that simply said "Happy new year luv ryo."

YEA.

Today I've stuffed myself silly with Japanese food (Kubagawa tradition) for brunch and dinner. We had Japanese guests over for dinner, and they are STILL here. Geez, pass the rice wine and sake please ...

:)

New Year's resolution for 2004:

shake it like a poloroid picture.
