1) Operation Restore Door has been a resounding success! I came in this morning with my beads and a roll of duct tape and found a brand new (for me) door had been affixed to my office! Woo hoo!
It's too bad I didn't get to make my colorful statement, but the point was to get my door back, so mission accomplished. Sort of. We've discovered that I have different door than the one I had, and the door I had before - that was repaired, was put on one of the empty offices down the hall. There's a tell-tale triangular patch of wood where the hole used to be, and the repaired door stands out because it's all shiny and newly oiled. It's actually kind of neat looking and I wouldn't have minded it, but whatever. It's just interesting how these things work.
2) I'm getting bundles of old-ish LJ email in my inbox. I'm guessing others have had this same hiccup recently. If I respond to something that weeks old, you'll know why.
