right before i left on thursday i took one more look at the weather. they had changed the forecast from mostly cloudy to "heavy rain" for friday and saturday, so i caved and canceled my hiking trips. just as usual i have the power to change the weather, as it was only a slight drizzle and would've been fairly pleasant while hiking. oh well...
i got to hang out with rachael all day instead, which was probably a million times more fun than hiking by myself. we started with lunch at souvlaki's, then shopping for hoodies (didn't buy one) and tennis skirts (not for me), and finished the sober portion of the day watching
the aristocrats. AHOLYCRAP, MAKE SURE YOU SEE THIS MOVIE BEFORE YOU DIE!!!!! i will be buying the dvd the day it comes out. that's all i can say about it...
so i was having this incredible day, thinking "there's no place like home", and then the day got even better. rachael and i drove around blacksburg for over an hour trying to find food, but we ended up getting frozen food from wades and cooking at karthik's. we watched the end of the nc state game (more on that in a sec) while doing a power hour. then we drove and/or walked to champs for tnc, where i won a bunch of games of air hockey. for some stupid reason rachael and christine hottness convinced me to go dancing at nerv. either i was drunk or they were looking hotttt. probably both...
thoughts on thursday's game: that was one heck of an ending. state's go-ahead touchdown was something else as well. everyone at karthik's was rooting for georgia tech because they want our division to look stronger than the other division in the eyes of the bcs computers. (by the way, i still can't remember the names of the two divisions, but i can remember who is in each. therefore, i am renaming the divisions "tech" and "state". think about it for a sec, it'll make sense.) when georgia tech's last pass hit the receiver's hands, everyone but me screamed "yeah!!!" when the ball bounced out of his hands into the air, everyone but me screamed "awww!!!" when the ball landed in a defender's hands for an interception, everyone but me was silent as i screamed "yeah!!!" pretty wild swing. after the game, the only thing anyone talked about was chuck's man-boobs...
friday i walked around the burg in the light rain for a while, and i kept thinking "there's no place like home!" i ended up hanging out in gbj watching people do pledge interviews for a few hours. i have become addicted to sudoku thanks to the school newspaper, much more fun than doing the same crossword puzzle every day. then i walked over to karthik's again to watch old school and pcu (james and i wanted to feel like we were still in college). then dinner at bogens with about 20 brothers. i splurged and got the steak. then it was over to shannon's for her birthday party. i was much, much better at quarters this time. i also went undefeated at twister. i don't think anything else exciting happened that night...
ahh... game day in blacksburg... there is definitely no place like home!!! tailgated on green street, just like old times. definitely surprised to see mike bradley there, which was cool. plenty to drink before, during, and after the game. pictures in tubes and taco bell were kinda fuzzy for me. passed out for a few hours then went to fishbowls. this year the drink was jeremy's punch and the theme was golf pros and tennis hoes. yeah, matt roberts was definitely a ho. the party was actually the best i'd been to in blacksburg since dom lived in foxridge. (oh yeah, dom is moving about an hour away from raleigh later this month). they even played the midnight song, and there were 2 pledges that knew it! finished the evening arm wrestling at joe's diner sometime after 4:30. funny story: travis got his plate of french toast, poured syrup all over it, and took his first bite. all of a sudden, his food got really hot (as in spicy). apparently, someone had spiked the syrup with tabasco. good prank, i've gotta remember that one...
then i finished the weekend with lunch today on the roof at boudreaux's, basking in the overcast. *sigh* there's no place like home. the drive out of the burg is always bittersweet. i was really happy when i got back in to raleigh, though. turns out zach wasn't leaving again until tomorrow morning, so i got to have dinner with him and bramy. good food, good wine, good friends... i walked out to my car thinking it's good to be... uh... home.
