Great to see you back again - it's been a very long time since we last heard from you. Congratulations on your weight gain (you've no idea how good it is to be able to write that) And I agree with you about alcohol vs. meat; alcohol is one of the delights of life and if I had a choice about which to give up it would be the meat. One of my favourite Churchill quotes is "I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has ever taken out of me"

Thanks! I love having a drink as I game. Having a chicken leg or a pork chop as I game just doesn't work the same way.

I had a roommate once who also needed to gain weight, and she did it in the worst way, with like. giant frozen pot pies and stuff, and as a consequence she made herself even less healthy, so I do think you've got the right idea.

I can't really take credit in any active sense for the weight gain. When I first started the new medication regimen, I was hungry all the time. Like, seriously, don't get your hands too close to my mouth hungry. At first I chalked that up to the meds, but now I think it might have just been my body normalizing. I gained almost 20lbs in less than a month. In the following months it's continued to creep up, but much more slowly. It took me a while to realize that I needed to stop eating to build reserves. I have reserves now. I have plenty of reserves. If I keep building, I will either have to cut the booze or start going to the gym. Oh man, giving up meat would be a lot easier than giving up sloth.
