"If you jumped off of our front porch, you would land right where the Civil War was fought. It's never been forgotten. There's 20 miles to the interstate. There's a Burger King and a Motel 8. And the only thing between here and there is cotton."
-Kenny Chesney, "In A Small Town"

That song reminds me of Oxford. Sometimes I think I have the heart of a country boy, but I grew up in the big city. Or at least right outside it.

I just watched Munich, which was good yet way too long for its own good. Excellent story, though it could have been shortened a good half hour without compromising the movie. Regardless, it gets my stamp of approval for at least keeping me awake.

True story: We saw a movie advertised as "Fun With D," and Patrick and I immediately thought of Deanna because that's what a lot of people (or maybe just Chris?) seem to refer to her. How incredibly disappointed we were when we found it was "Fun With Dick and Jane."

I think I'm leaving tomorrow morning and heading to the coast and then off to granny's. Quick memory:

Beeeeep. I raised my eyebrow to the mirror and consulted to toothbrush as to what the noise could be. I checked my Dad's beeper, the clock radio and the computer, but to no avail. Curiosity got the best of me somehow and I finally discoverd the source: my cell phone. I discovered a message in text from my first girlfriend, something to the affect of wishing me a good night. When you're a teenager, it doesn't take much to keep your feet off the ground. It took me quite some time, and I felt like an idiot, but I finally figured out text messaging that evening.

It's a simple story, but it reminds me of that yearning to talk to someone. You know what I mean? Like you might have a crush on someone, so you can't wait until they get online so you can stare at their screen name and wish you had enough courage to say something? But it's that beep, or that noise, or that signal that means the opportunity is there to make contact.

Yeah, I probably sound like a lunatic. Don't worry, I'm not stalking anyone. Heck, my computer doesn't even beep anymore. Y'all be good now.

I rest my case.
