I bought this one with the chardonnay because I have a thing for matched sets.

That's awesome! I'm so glad you found a wine you like! (And hey, I like Little Penguin chardonnay, which is arguably sub-Yellow Tail in most people's eyes. You like what you like.)

My recommendation - try a couple of other cabernet sauvignons and see what you think of them. Now that you've hit on a type of wine you like, it's time to explore it a little bit. (I did this with zinfandel and it really expanded my appreciation of wine in general.)

As I said, the Yellow Tail Cab Sauv isn't terrible, it's just not great. Being able to discern things like caramel is a good sign that you may yet have a wine lover inside of you!

Also, consider finding the BBC series "Oz and James's Big Wine Adventure" - I'm sure most of it is on YouTube. Watching it will educate AND prevent you from becoming an insufferable wine snob!

Wierdly, I'm friends with the Montreal fellow who designed that label.

Since we're talking Cabs here, I've really, really enjoyed the Cab from Root 1 wine(http://www.root1wine.com) Low price, big, bold flavor.
