Bill Kristol has lost his column at the New York Times. The the bottom of his latest column, there's the tiny italicised note:
This is William Kristol’s last column. Ah, that warms my soul....
If you're wondering who
Bill Kristol is, he's one of the main water-carriers for the Neocon movement. He is a co-founder of the Project for the New American Century, a think-tank promoting American global military and moral leadership and a major force behind American foreign policy for the last eight years. He is the public face of New Conservatism.... and has been
horribly wrong every step of the way.
The Times allegedly let him go not because his columns were ideologically skewed but because they were badly written, poorly-researched and forced the Times to run regular corrections on what he wrote. In other words, he was a hack in every sense of the word.
He's the worst kind of person to have in a public forum - someone who puts his ideology first, with no regard for whether or not the facts support it. Being published in a national paper added an unfortunate amount of credibility to him that he really shouldn't have.
Oh, and Sarah Palin?
That was his fault.... The only fly in this otherwise fine broth is that the Washington Post will be running his columns from now on. I guess WaPo wants the attention....
