Senator Christopher Bond, R-Mo. on why granting Telecom companies immunity was a good idea:"I'm not here to say that the government is always right, but when the government tells you to do something, I'm sure you would all agree that I think you all recognize that is something you need to do."
In other words, "We know what's best so just shut up and eat your Doritos, monkeys.
This is why I would vote Tripod/Lord Whiskerskins '08 before I allow the Republican Party anywhere near the halls of power again for at least a generation. Yes, the Democrats would by then have become equally corrupt, bloated and evil, but revenge is in my heart this election cycle, not reason.
Anyway, the flag-whipped Telecom companies that were too terrified patriotic to tell the White House to go fuck itself when they asked to start handing over records and tapping customers' phones are now immune from any kind of lawsuit or prosecution.
Wouldn't that be nice if something like that could apply elsewhere? "But your honor, I was really unbalanced at the time, and even though I knew it was illegal, I just couldn't say no!" "Okay, you're free to go. Just stay away from high school swimming matches from now on."
*sigh* Anyway, personal to Senator Bond: Blow me.
