Comments on the Winter Olympics
The Boyfriend said it should be called the White Man's Olympics. "Every time an Asian country wins, they change the rules." It certainly doesn't help that Japan has won bugger-all in this Olympics so far....
I still don't get Curling. I mean, I know it's tough - I was entranced at 12:30 in the morning, watching those big rocks slide across the ice, and I know if you asked me to hit one 44 kg stone with another 44 kg stone across 45.5 meters (thank you, Wikipedia), the results would be a hilarious demostration of misapplied Newtonian physics, as anyone who's ever played pool with me could easily imagine. Still, I don't get why it's in the Olympics. It is kind of hypnotic, though, and therefore more interesting than alpine skiing, though with a much lower chance for contributing to the old "agony of defeat" stock footage....
The Canadian guy who won the bronze in Men's freestyle is the best-looking figure skater I've seen in ages. With a very nice costume reminiscent of Star Trek.
