I promised to tell you what I did last weekend. I hope you survived the suspense....
Well, armed with our navigation system, The Boyfriend and I decided to head out to Shiga to do a little spelunking. No seriously.... There's caves out there, albeit highly organized and tourist-friendly ones. This is Japan, you know....
We walked up the Kawachi River, which is clear and cold. Very nice. And very photogenic....
Walk along the river for a while, and you come to some stairs, not entirely unlike the stairs to Cirith Ungol in Lord of the Rings. That was to be a theme, by the way, much to my Boyfriend's dismay, I'm sure.
We felt the temperature drop before we even saw the cave entrance. It was quite refreshing, really, and you could get a chance to enjoy Fun With Thermodynamics. Step one way, it's hot and muggy. Take a step to the right, and it's cool and soothing.... I love caves. Once we got inside.... Well, let me show you.
As a confession, this picture is highly level-corrected in Photoshop. I haven't figured out yet how to make my camera appreciate low light conditions. It still looks nice, though. My first instinct, naturally, was to put on my Gimli voice. "My cousin balin will show us Dwarf hospitality...." It was really, really hard not to shout "You! Shall not! PASS!!!" But I think my boyfriend probably appreciates my reserve.....
Ugh. It's coming in on 12:30 and I have to work tomorrow. And go to the gym, although I'm beginning to wonder why I bother.... *shrug* More tomorrow night. Here's a picture to tempt you....
