Gilmore-Danes Residence - Sunday Evening

Lorelai and Luke had been talking all week and finally, today, they made a decision. Now Lorelai had to tell Rory about that decision. She had handwavy called her daughter and invited her over for dinner.

She was feeding Bucky his bedtime bottle and waiting for her daughter to show up.

"Hello?" Rory called as she entered the house. "Mom? Luke?" Pause. "Bucky?"

"In here," Lorelai replied, pitching her voice to try to sound like a baby boy. "Mom and Dad left me all alone. I'm so glad you came to take care of me."

"Oh, Bucky, you're so neglected!" Rory cried, hurrying in. "Oh, never mind. But very believeable voice, Mom."

"Thanks, I've been practicing," Lorelai said. "How's things with you? Ready for finals?"

"Of course not. I've only been studying since last week," Rory sighed. "How goes life post-troll abduction?"

[msgilmoredanes]

Lorelai shrugged, not quite meeting Rory's eyes. "It goes," she said. "Actually, that's why I asked you to come over tonight. There's something I need to tell you."

Rory raised her brows. "Uh oh."

[msgilmoredanes]

"Yeah," Lorelai sighed. "There's no easy way to say this, but Luke and I are going to move back to Stars Hollow. After last weekend, we don't feel safe raising Bucky here."

Rory blinked. "But what about teaching?" she asked dully.

[msgilmoredanes]

"I'm going to finish this semester and then resign," Lorelai said. "I hate doing it, but last weekend really scared me and Luke, honey."

Rory studied the ground. "Well, I'm staying," she said almost petulantly.

[msgilmoredanes]

Bucky started to fuss and Lorelai shifted him to her shoulder. "I know," she said. "I wouldn't ask you to leave when you've only got one semester left."

"But I'll miss you," Rory said sadly. "And I won't be able to see Bucky and you and Luke barely at all."

[msgilmoredanes]

"I know, kid, but I can't take any chances on something bad happening to Bucky," Lorelai said. "And you'll be graduating soon and going to Harvard and that will be a lot closer."

"Hopefully," she said woefully. "I hate this."

[msgilmoredanes]

"I know," Lorelai said. "I do, too." She shifted Bucky again and moved closer so she could slip her arm around Rory. "It was a hard decision to make, but Luke and I both think it's the right one."
