Okay, I'm back and I've read it (yeah, 3 times). And once again, I am blown away! I mean, I knew you were writing this fic and you were gonna fill the gaps between scenes, but you did a lot more than I expected. You filled ALL the gaps in the episode, plus more. I was like...whoa! I was so overwhelmed with it. I swear, if we were in a message board, this post would be overloaded with all sorts of smilies by now.

I love that you started from the very first scene, Lincoln's almost execution. And then you went on to include Linc's check up the next day. I love this part:

She leaves his cell, wondering how she ever could have missed the fact that Burrows and Scofield were brothers. For every one difference she sees, she finds two similarities and right now, Lincoln’s obvious avoidance of a touchy subject is painfully familiar.
I was thinking the exact same thing whenever I watch that scene.

I must say, THANK YOU for adding that scene in the infirmary - their first meeting after the almost execution. That was a gaping hole in the episode and you filled it in perfectly.

After a few days, it’s as though the aborted execution never happened. Michael comes in for his shots each day, gently and deliberately flirts with her for ten minutes, then strolls out of her life, leaving her irritatingly unsettled.

In other words, business as usual.
Hee! Love this part too! I can just imagine how annoying it must be for Sara.

This is my favorite part:

A sudden panic flares in his eyes. She instinctively reaches for his hand, knowing she’s comprising sterility and she’ll need to grab a new glove, but she doesn’t care. His hand tightens around hers, his eyes never leaving her face as Katie injects a local anesthetic close to the wound.
I love how she's trying to be discreet in front of Katie and the CO, but when Michael panics, her instinct is to let him know that she's there.

*sigh* Thanks for writing this, Gen!
