The Pope is in my country at the moment, and watching the flailing and giggling fangirl nuns on the television has reminded me of one of my favourite French and Saunders sketches.

"Was it a Womble? No, it wasn't a Womble."

THAT was hilarious. As an ex-Catholic and a lifelong fangirl (not of the Pope), I can appreciate the Fangirl Nuns. It reminds me very much of the conversations on my various American Idol LJ groups; people who've come back from the concerts are crowing, "I MET DAVID COOK (David Archuleta) (Michael Johns) (Jason Castro)!" "You did! What was he like?!" "He's gorgeous, and so incredibly nice." And of course I plan to do all that too (whenever I get within 100 miles of him). But I'll skip the Pope :)

Oh, yes, it just cracked me up. All those words (well, perhaps not quite the babbling about wanting to work in the Vatican giftshop) have come out of my mouth many times after seeing my favourites in concert. Substitute Simon le Bon for Benedict and it's all true, lol! *g*

Ha! It's so true, isn't it? All week I've been watching footage of fanboy priests and fangirl nuns, and I just want to pinch their little flushed cheeks. *g*
