Oh, I quite agree. It was hilarious until I got into the fandom and realised that Teh Crazy was neverending and coming from all sides ALL. THE. TIME.
Plus? I write Harry/Hermione, and I never really took kindly to being labeled a delusional Harmonian. I *hate* that the Harry/Hermione LJ comms felt they had no choice but to become locked down members-only LJs because they were being trolled so much. Still pisses me off when I think about it.
Yeah, I can see how it would definitely get tiresome when you're right in the thick of it instead of sitting on the sidelines with a bag of popcorn. :)
If it's any consolation, I totally shipped Harry/Hermione and didn't get the hostility towards that pairing AT ALL. 'But it's not going to be canon, can't you see that, you're so stuuupid!!' Um, hello? This is fandom, it's all about shipping couples that will never ever happen in canon.
Very, very tiresome indeed. Add to that the constant Who crap of "Oh, the crazy Rose!fen are just like the Harmonians!" and you might see why I don't get too involved in those two fandoms much these days, lol!

Yes, that was puzzling for me as well. I never expected it to happen in canon, because it was painfully obvious what JKR was setting up (subtle, she was not) but that's not why I shipped them. I shipped them because I liked them together which, as you said, is the whole point.
Oh, lord, I totally know what you mean about Who fandom. "If you don't like Martha you're stupid and a batshit fourteen-year-old Rose fangirl and a bad person and probably a racist too!" I think I'm going to have to desubscribe from the newsletter as soon as the new season comes back, or at least when our girl comes back.
I do love our girl Rose, but I'm very nervous about her return.
I always stay right away from Martha-centric forums, not because I don't like *her* but because I cannot stomach the thread of "so there, Rosefen!" attitude that runs through almost every discussion.
I don't actively dislike Hagrid, he's just never been a favourite, and I liked him less and less as the series went on. Don't ask me for my reasons though, because I don't actually have any, lol!

Oh, come on, I'm not even in HP fandom, and I know that's the best thing about it. :) So endlessly entertaining.
