Sometimes he can't remember how long he's been here.
Each new - or old, he thinks with a faint edge of hysteria - day seems to blend into the next. There's a routine to this insanity that should frighten him, but he's always been a fan of routine.
Sometimes he doesn't know if he's already dead and buried, if anything he does or says makes the slightest difference.
Sometimes he doesn't know if here is starting to feel more real than there.
He does know one thing. When Annie touches his arm, her dark eyes smiling into his, time stands still.
