Ok, these are my stunt sabres...I built them on top of two "practice sabers" from Random Sabers. I filmed footage of my building the second of the two for a tutorial I never got around to editing.

More after the cut...

What I'm going to do is to do some more building, this time on a base that is wired for LED light. BJ, one of my friends at the Star Wars Space SW fandom community site, is almost finished building them for me. Way cool.

You can probably eyeball the two pictures and see what I'm talking about. The new v.3 lighted sabres won't be 100% identical to the v.2 stunt sabres, but they will be close enough for full-tilt rock and roll.

And here's what the blades look like. I settled on the longer blades even though I prefer shorter blades because they are more commensurate with my height and arm reach and allow me to "close the distance" on a taller sparring partner and use my shortness as an advantage rather than a disadvantage. He didn't have any more polycarbonate tips with silvering on them and I think that just leads to a better, more movie-close result. It also evens out the light on the blade...minimizes hot spots and dark spots. These LEDs make for a very rich color result too. Luxeon is the best solution for lightsabres, no question about it.

Anyway, these are coming home to me this week. With a little luck they will be finished in time for Loscon. Time to mend some stuff on the Jedi robes.
