Ear Stapling to lose weight
Anyone heard of this new weight loss gimmick and has anyone actually tried it? This girl in my Art Appreciation class said that she will be getting one on Friday. LOL Its all the rage here on campus, everyone is talking about it. They actually have a staple put in their ear? And it makes you lose weight? Im like John Stossel, Come on now gimmie a break. Aren't they scared of infections? Like Keloids which mostly affects African Americans, but gross nonetheless.

Ear Stapling: Newest Weight-Loss Trend

Some believe it's the latest secret to weight loss, and it takes less than ten minutes.
After an alcohol prep comes a swipe in the ear by a sensor that makes a buzzing sound. Then, a stapling device delivers a little pinch.
It's called ear stapling. Shannon Jones just opened Staple Trim in Byram six weeks ago, and she sees up to 150 customers a day. "We're in a small town. People come from McComb, Brookhaven, Crystal Springs, Grenada, Greenville," she says.
Verla Dillon came from Monticello to have the procedure after her daughter had success with it, and began shedding several pounds a week. "It's just like a little sting," she says. "Compare it to getting your ear pierced. That's what you compare it to."
Ear stapling is believed to release natural chemicals in your body called endorphins, which help curb your appetite and control stress. Some happy customers have said ear stapling also helps with insomnia, constipation, and migraine headaches.
Jones tells us about one woman who stopped by to report on the progress she's had with her headaches since having her ears stapled. "It's been three weeks and she has not had a migraine since," Jones says.
Jones, who is also a respiratory therapist, says there's no license required to conduct ear stapling. She was trained in Oklahoma by someone else who does it. She's also a client. "I've lost 15 pounds in five weeks," Jones says.
A diagram on the wall in Jones' office displays all the pressure points in the ear. The stomach pressure point is in an area referred to as point zero. That's where the staple is placed for weight loss. Just a small shift away from that area is where the staple would be placed for smoking cessation.
Touching the staple may cause irritation. The procedure costs $55 at Staple Trim, and the staples last up to 12 weeks.
