A constant I see in post-MJ fic is that Katniss would take ALL this convincing to be with Peeta; that she might possibly betray him along the way; that even after all they'd been through she would still need to make up her mind. That the displays of love, the gestures, the kindnesses would all still come from Peeta.
I call bullshit on that.
When Katniss loves, she LOVES. Once Peeta was really hers, he was hers forever. Is she ever going to be super effusive/good with words/prone to huge gestures? No. But she doesn't need any more convincing. She gets it. She believes. She loves. She might make some boneheaded mistakes out of fear, mostly (I'm writing one right now), but she doesn't need any more convincing.
