Well, that was unexpected.

Got a text from S requiring my immediate presence a few hours ago.
When I got over there, J was in his traditional 'sleepy-time-drunk' pose on the floor, so me and S lugged him to the bed. The great twit. I don't think S has ever seen J after a proper night on the lash, his concern was almost touching. I've advised him to leave him on the floor next time, as a lesson. I don't know if he will.

After that things got truly surreal. I bought a dinner set, which is just something I don't usually do on a Saturday morning. S cooked, and willingly too, something I never imagined him doing. (Really good bacon! No, really. Crispy.) I made tea, mainly around S, who for such a tall person spends a lot of time on the floor.

S laughed. Whether it was at me or with me I'll never know but there you go. It was... Nice. Confusing, but nice. I don't expect it  will last. I even met S and J's landlord. He seemed nice. Bemused, but I suppose that a small blonde woman jumping up and down with a tea-towel, shouting at a tall glass of water excuse for an artist is something you don't see everyday.

I have to remember to not buy red things. Then maybe I will stop almost poisoning S and J. It's getting a bit out of hand. Maybe a tattoo. Backwards on my forehead, so I can read it when I look in the mirror.

Looking forward to Saturday. Here is the recipe I am using for lemon cake, coming from the stalwart Mrs. Mary Berry:

-175g soft margerine/butter
-175g caster sugar
-250g self-raising flour
-1tsp baking powder
-3 eggs
-2tbsp milk
-Zest of two lemons.

For icing:
-250g icing sugar
-Juice of two lemons.

Method:
  1. Lightly grease the tin and line the bottom with baking parchment
  2. Combine all the cake ingredients in a bowl and beat well for about 2 minutes or until smooth and thoroughly blended.
  3. Turn into the prepared tin and level the surface. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C/ fan 160°C, Gas 4 for 35-40 minutes until the cake is well risen, springy to the touch, and beginning to shrink away from the sides if the cake.
  4. Leave to cool slightly in the tin, then turn out on to a wire cooling rack, peel off the lining paper, and cool.
  5. Make the icing: sift the icing sugar into a bowl. Mix in enough of the lemon juice to give a runny consistency. Pour over the cooled cake, and leave to set. when cool, cut into squares and serve.
Hopefully it will be better recieved than my last cake. See a bunch of you very soon. :)
