I've been looking at animal skeletons. I just caught myself thinking 'You know, I bet if you got one and attached a different skull, you could make it look like a dragon skeleton.'

The question is, would it have bat wings or bird wings? There is apparently a difference.

Also, would the cat eat it?

you are driving me up the wall, so fluffy i could die, brat, cat, this is why i'll never be a grown-up, halp, tangentially related to the hobbit, these things happen to me, oh no, yes i know you're switzerland, fun

Basically, something like this. Only not looking like it took all of 90 seconds to draw.

I think a Caiman lizard skull'd be perfect. I would be tempted to leave the front paws on, but I see where you're coming from.

The bat wings would probably be fine all by themselves though? It'd probably be a reasonably small cat, I think, cause the lizard is only four foot long and sized proportionately. I kind of like the idea of just keeping the cat paws, because they're kind of all backwards and things anyway.

The problem with that would be 1. finding a bat specimen large enough, and 2. the bones themselves. Bat bones, especially in the wings, are very small and brittle, and the radius/ulna are about twice the length of the humerus, which is what defines their characteristic wing movements. But they wouldn't be able to support a creature that size.

True enough. I think an eagle or an owl is our best bet, personally. Eagles have the massive wing-span, but an owl has sturdier bones. Although, I suppose since we're going for a bat-like appearance, then we need the span.

I might draw up some proper plans and bring them over, or you can have a look next time you want a cuppa, if you like.

I'm only showing you a technical drawing. I don't even know if this will come to anything yet, I'm rubbish at that sort of arty thing.
