Subject: Riverside Artist's Market
Hi --
On Tuesday night, July 1st at 7:30, we are having a very important meeting to put together the final organizational structure for the Riverside Artist's Market under the Fuller Warren Bridge, which is scheduled tentatively to open in mid-October 2008.
The meeting will be at Riverside Christian Church (2841 Riverside Ave.), and I very much hope you can attend. The meeting will bring together many artists, craftspersons, event planners, neighborhood activists, and idea people to hammer out the plans for this astounding project. As you probably know, we are loosely modeling this project after the Portland Saturday Market in Portland, Oregon, which attracts over 750,000 people per year.
Our site under the Fuller Warren Bridge provides several acres of weather-protected riverfront space, where artists and craft vendors will sell their wares every weekend. Also included will be food sellers and performers. With abundant parking and its location on the Riverwalk, the Riverside Artist's Market is destined to be a major attraction. It is being organized under the aegis of Riverside Avondale Preservation, which has a 30+ year history of putting on arts festivals and outdoor events.
With the great potential of this project, we want to make sure from the very beginning that we get everything right. That is where you come in. I hope you will attend this meeting, review our plans, add your ideas, and see if there is any part of this great creative undertaking that may stir your interest.
Thanks!
Wayne
