Physical books aren't inherently bad - a lot of people find information that way that might not otherwise find free published works on the internet. Charging for information people need also isn't inherently bad, if it is something they need and available at a price they can afford. You can take advantage of the book publishing complex and its huge reach to address the need you see, while still making the information freely available on the web.
And maybe you can have your book published on 100% post-consumer waste paper? Just make sure it's in the contract! : )
