The Hansen Files

Like I said the older I get the more I like to see what’s going on in the news, and that includes going to the TV and newspaper sites.  I always hate to come across the articles about a child being murdered, raped, and about children being sexually abused.  Reading them makes me feel very uncomfortable (my chest gets tight, I can hardly breathe), and I know it’s normal with me because of my own unfortunate past.  I used to act like I didn’t see the headlines and skip over them, but one day I just decided it’s better to be uncomfortable than to act like these things don’t occur.

Today while I was looking at msnbc.com, I came across The Hansen Files.  If you don’t know who Chris Hansen is, I swear he’s a Godsend.  I first heard the name Chris Hansen while watching To Catch a Predator on Dateline NBC.  But as I started watching more of msnbc.com I realized he did other investigations.  I was grateful that Chris Hansen was doing these investigations because it’s not okay for older men or women to engage in sexual activity with someone who is under age and who is not mentally ready to engage in sex.

I remember when I was like 12 years old this 30 year old guy (who happened to know my father) tried talking to me at an OTB in Wayne County.  Now when he found out who my father was the first thing he said was “I used to change your diapers when you were a baby.”  After that the conversation was over, there was no point in us talking any further because I knew that was the farthest thing from the truth.  I knew what he was up to and it just wasn’t going to work.  I think now what if I wouldn’t have ended the conversation, what would have happened? Ewww, don’t even want to think about it.  But the truth is some girls fall for it.

Don’t get me wrong I like older guys, but I think it’s because I am more mentally mature than a lot of guys my age.  But I just think it’s sick when older guys hit on 16 year old girl when their own daughter is around the same age.  Some of these guys will do anything to protect their own daughter, but what about this 16 year old who you are conspiring to have sex with?  What about her emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical health?  But it’s okay because it’s not your child.  That’s what’s wrong with this world today.  I believe I was reading A Presocratics Reader or Phaedrus (hell I can’t remember) when I read something about when you have children to put them in something like a daycare to mix up the children so they all come up the same (I’m just summarizing).  While I know this isn’t possible, but it seems to me if we cared about all children and not just our own maybe we’d have more concern over their welfare.  What ever happened to “I believe their children are our future?”  It seems to me that if things keep going in the direction they are going in we won’t have much of a future.  Where are the morals going?  Where is the love?  Oh yeah, I forgot the devil is busy!  Until my fingers hit the keys again peace, love and live blyssful!

I have tried several times to embed a video clip of The Hansen Files, unfortuantely I was unable to do so.  I encourage you to view this; it is so sad and breaks my heart.  It's time to start talking about it and maybe everyone will stop keeping secrets!

I am adding the music on here because money can lead us blind. In Jezebel by Sade she is doing this at her own will, but in Olivia by The Whispers it may be a different case. Whatever the case, I believe the songs go well with this blog, so try to listen and get an appreciation for the words.

msnbc, dateline nbc, sex abuse, chris hansen, child abuse, to catch a predator, loss of innocence, sex crimes, rape
