Paper faces on Parade

I seriously need to stop watching reviews of musicals... In the past two days... Les Mis and Phantom.
Good God I'm a geek. A musical geek.

So.  Phantom makes me think of masks.. And this reminds me that I totally can't see a damn thing without my glasses... Well.  I can see things... Just not clearly.  Like if I don't put them on in the morning it is a little while before I get annoyed... unless I want to actually read something.  But if I wear them for a while and take them off, then I feel like I'm going to run into a wall.

I want a mask.  That is cool.  That I can wear with my glasses.  I don't care how it goes on... So long as it doesn't knock my glasses askew or scratch them.  It could go around them, over them, under them. I don't care.
I have a masquerade mask from Middle School (Because I was in the group of Theatre kids and we totally had a Halloween masquerade party because we're cool like that.  The challenge was to not be recognized...  The gal who won dressed in a Tux with a full non-gendered face mask and short hair.  She didn't speak.  And was so happy when we declared her the winner so she could take her mask of and eat something other than the M&Ms she'd been slipping through the mouth of the mask all night.)  And My mask is cool and awesome.  But it doesn't go over my glasses at all.

So... That's what phantom gets me.

Les Mis... You get random things... We did it in Middle School.  I was Cosette.  And... My voice back then was totally perfect for Castle on a Cloud.
And I could tell you about how damn funny we all found it when we were rehearsing and lines got goofed.... like...
"you at the barricade listen to this.  The people of Paris asleep in their beads... You have no Chance!!! no chance at all." Morphed into  "you have no Pants!!!" and everyone at the barricade fell over laughing...

But there's music that I love... You have to Love the Master of the House
But it's not Les Mis without this:

And One Day More I suppose....

Some days... I despair at how popular some of the songs I love are... Because you hear so many people do things to them and though I love music... I can't stand someone who can't sing a song trying... Like, people who think that just because they can sing, they can sing everything....  They can totally sing the crap out of that song...
I can sing Think of Me from Phantom... My voice is soft-ish and I work on not being really breathy, but it's my kind of song... As is Anyone Can Whistle.  I love that song.  (OMG John Barrowman!!!!Fuck yeah!!!!!!)

Anyhow... People.  If you're gonna be convinced you can sing... Perhaps, find songs in your range that fit your voice... I don't often do big brash loud numbers.  And when I do I practice the shit out of them.  And they're exhausting.
Except my theme song.
