Holy Big Boy Room, Batman!

Jun 29, 2010 22:19

I still have a whole blank wall in the room and need to dig out my Animated Series poster of Batman that used to be pinned to the ceiling above my bed in high school. I guess that makes me a silly fangirl, but that's why I have the dedication to create a Batcave in my own home!

Also, the wee one started hollering after going to bed in his crib in the nursery. Turns out, he was insisting to sleep in the big bed in the Batcave tonight. So far, no pitter patter of little feet coming down the stairs, so I think we actually made it!

Batmobile Bed

Like the original live action TV series, this is a blue Batmobile. Notice the adornment of my treasured Bat-pillow. However, we also have a single bed in the room since we haven't had lots of luck with toddler in car bed. And that one I cannot figure out!
Bookcase

Check out my Batman paraphanalia preserved for many years, some of which - in mint condition - I actually opened for the little man.

Curtains

Love the black curtains that block out the sun, which are "vintage" as they came from the downtown house where I used to live. The yellow on the walls was stolen for that downtown bedroom also, so I had already played with this color combination before.
Sign

goodgoodwill hand-painted this sign for the bedroom door after I found the proper (Animated Series) font online and printed the letters to scale as a model.

Wall 1

The Dark Knight poster and creepy Joker balaclava came from one of the Blockbuster stores that recently closed while all the other Bat maquettes and such were collected over the years.
Wall 2

I donated my 2010 calendar to the cause as well as my bulletin board. I only had one roll of the border, which is Animated Series style but actually adapted from the Batman & Robin movie. Notice the Chris O'Donnell style Robin (i.e. sandy brown hair rather than black for Dick Grayson).

Wall 3

Definitely not enough border for the whole room, so I am planning to put it on one accent wall. I pinned it in place until I can figure out which wall should be the accent wall.
Wall 4

These bats are copper painted black and were collected from a particular booth at the GA Renaissance Festival over a couple of years. They are so perfect roosting in the corner!

Fabric

Should I make an accent curtain with this random Batman fabric? There are lots of other possibilities for it, but this isn't the Animated Series Batman or The Dark Knight Batman so it doesn't really work with the rest of the decor. I'm sure I can find some other use for it in the room.
