Summary: Josh talks to Toby about Donna's request for more responsibility.
Author's Note: It is very short and was just something that came to me one day, unfortunately, in class. As a side note, you will probably see in most of my stories that I LOVE the relationship between Toby and Donna. I have wished from the first episode that we were able to see more of them together.
155 Words - More
“Donna asked to do more.”
“More what?”
“Just...more.” Josh dropped off, his mind working furiously.
Toby spoke again after a few moments. “Josh, do you mind brooding in your own office? I’ve got this one covered.”
“I mean,” Josh said, as if he hadn’t heard him, “between her and Margaret she practically runs the West Wing. What else could she want to do?”
Toby let the question hang in the air for a few minutes before stating the obvious. “Run the House?”
“What? Donna can’t-“
“Donna can make anything happen,” said Toby with resolute, albeit surprising, confidence.
“But she’s going to have to expand her experience, her contacts…her education,” Josh protested.
“I think that’s where the ‘more’ comes in, Josh. And what could possibly be wrong with her finishing her degree?”
Josh didn’t answer.
“Josh, we only get eight years here. Eventually, she’s going to leave. It’s your choice what to do after that.”
