My puppy

Sunday is group class day for my not-so-little puppy (he's already 60lbs!)...I have gotten to know most of the "parents" and we all know each other's dogs. There is a HUG doberman named Samson who is just under a year - he is just starting his "off lease" training.

During class we all run in circles with our dogs, do turns making sure the dogs are keeping up and we do commands then we do individual tasks. Samson's task was to walk three feet off lease with his dad (whose name I can not remember) come to a stop and sit. Three older dogs went first...Hunter (black doberman), Mo' Betta (amercian bull dog), and Layla (german shepard)...everyone did great...then it was Samson's turn. The second his lease was loose Samson took off doing a weird prancing run (he looked like a gay doberman - no joke), everyone puts their dogs back on lease and we all stand around while dad is call him but Samson ignores him and keeps doing his dance running (with leaps thrown in every few steps)...we were in a park and everyone just got out of Samson's way. All the dogs are getting excited from watching Samson running like a loon!! Then I see him coming straight for me and Buddy!! I start to back away but Buddy stands up and starts barking at Samson!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!??!! Damn dog does not know he's a freakin' yellow lab PUPPY!! Samson's ears perk up and he picks up speed by this time the trainer and dad are trying to yell commands without sounding mad to keep Samson under control...I am still trying to back up but Buddy is pulling forward!! (note - Samson weighs 125lbs of doberman muscle) Samson comes right up to Buddy and they are barking and jumping around. Buddy will not submit!!! He keeps barking and jumping trying to gain some ground - I am yelling for him to heel (I can just hear Tom freaking out when I try to explain how the puppy was killed under my supervision). Dad finally reaches Samson and Samson takes off running again...Buddy is still barking and attempts to chase after Samson!! His ears are perked up, he's sticking his chest out and his tail is pointed straight up...after they catch Samson everyone is making fun of Buddy - the little scrapper. I get yelled at by the trainer and we have to go back on Tuesday night so I can learn how to make Buddy stand down.

This is the second "fight" Buddy has been involved in and every class we go to he stares down the bigger meaner dogs - most of them don't pay attention to him...but what the fuck is wrong with my so-called gentle yellow lab??

Samson looks mean but he wouldn't really bite anyone or thing unless provoked and Buddy is the little shithead who is provoking him!! I swear I am so embarrassed when this happens because you know there is only one person to blame and that is the handler - and it sucks that in a class of "bully" or "security" dogs my lab is the shithead of the class!!
