Faith the White Hat

So I was taking the latest poll by Gabrielleabelle, and made a realization...

I've been judging Faith solely on a "initially villainous character" scale, when in actuality, she started out being a hero.

How in the blue hell did that happen?  I'd been viewing her as if she were like Spike or even Angel, as opposed to Buffy and Willow, and therefore, did not have as high expectations for her.  Lately, that is.  I've been giving her an undeserved pass for past crimes.

Thinking back on it, when the season initially aired, I didn't feel that way, but somehow, I managed to forget how her story started...  Faith was a hero who pretty much fell as far as one possibly could fall, and then reformed.  She wasn't on the opposite side of the line.  Well, to start with, anyway.

Now I'm wondering how did my thought process get blinded in such a way.  How did I manage to forget that she was supposed to have been a white hat?  I mean, she isn't even a vampire for crying out loud...

No, I don't have more to add than that.  I'm just a bit disappointed in myself, is all.

Xander essay thingy coming soon.
