Joss Whedon Leaves Twitter Due to Backlash

Tumblr Repost:

So, I was confused by that Joss Whedon abandons twitter thing, but then I saw this picture.  I have some thoughts on this.

Careful!  Thar be spoilers…

1. No matter how many times he had to hit “block,” I think Joss should have hit “block” and stayed.
2. People are pissed that Black Widow fell for Bruce.  I guess she isn’t allowed to have feelings.  Clint was her BFF-doesn’t mean they did anything.  And yeah, she kissed Steve-WHEN THEY WERE TRYING TO HIDE FROM HYDRA.
3. People are also pissed Black Widow was made sterile.  She was robbed of her choice and made into a killer. It’s called backstory.  Not everyone’s history is sunshine and roses.
4. I guess Black Widow also doesn’t get a choice if she wants to quit her job and run away with the man she loves.  How dare she!? #sarcasm
5. People accused Black Widow of being a damsel because she is rescued after being captured by Ultron.  Black Widow could never be a damsel.  She got captured after successfully taking the one thing that Ultron wanted.  Clint had to be carried out in the opening sequence, but no one called him a damsel.  Those people can fuck off.  Pardon my French.

Look, I do think that Avengers: Age of Ultron was problematic.  But it was not because of what happened to the characters, their nightmares, or their backstories.  It was the fact that it was too much action and not *enough* of the characters and their backstories.  I wanted them to have more time at Tony’s party and on that farm.  That was what was missing.

But yeah-Black Widow was one of the best things to happen for a female character in awhile (well, except for her introduction in "Iron Man 2."  Didn’t care for that film overall).  Good grief.

avengers, age of ultron, rant, black widow, joss is the boss
