Buffy Reboot Thingy

'Cause a reboot is gonna happen eventually.

Taken from my blog Diary of a Fangirl.

This is mostly a fantasy post, since I already know that whatever reboot that is the works at present is not helmed by Joss, and the rights do not include any characters from the series, but come with me anyway, gentle readers, on this ride of reboot madness!

I'd love to see Russell crowe or Clive Owen as Giles. YES.

And it breaks my heart a little that you're casting Regina King as a mom. I remember her in 227 and we're about the same age. Seeing her cast as the mom with the geek machine MAKES ME FEEL SO OLD. *sobs*

Buffy's a pretty good pick, and I think I could seriously get behind your Willow choice. Not Angel, though. I think I'd want an unknown playing him, honestly.

Clive Owen is just so damn sexy...but no, I wouldn't mind her either :p

I remember 227 as well. Brenda and her awesome head of hair. *sigh* She's a great actress, though. I want to see her in more lead roles, now that I think about it.

As for Angel, folks keep throwing around Paul Wesley. But I'd go for an unknown.

I forgot to add that Hugh Laurie would be an excellent Giles for the reasons you state. He could pull off "Ripper" as well as be very bookish. But he lacks ASH's understated sexiness. Those little moments where you think "fuck the vampires, gimme the Watcher", ya know? :)

But to be fair, I never thought House and Cuddy were explosive together.

Oooh, what about Jenny? Who could you see being opposite Laurie's Giles? I suck at re-casting so I don't have anyone to offer up.

I struggled heavily with Giles. I wanted someone older so there weren't any creepy Buffy/Giles undertones, but not someone so old that I couldn't ship them with Regina King's Joyce :p That's what made Clive Owen such a slippery slope for me. Also, agreed on the understated sexiness.

And *slaps forehead* Jenny...

ETA: You REALLY stumped me here! I couldn't make a split decision, so I offer you a list of names of actresses who might fit.

Eva Mendes, Christina Ricci, Neve Campbell, Judy Greer, Juliette Lewis, Marley Shelton, Rhona Mitra, Rosario Dawson (I mostly don't like her acting, but "Sin City" gives me doubt), Milla Jovovich, Marion Cotillard, Rachel Weisz...

Yeah, I think I'm just spamming you with names now :p

See Hugh outside of House and it's easier to imagine.
