Although, it'll majorly suck if I get no responses...

Pick any character from a fandom of mine and I'll answer the following questions:

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally?
4) How much ( Read more... )

1) Spike is my number one. I identify with him more than any other character anywhere.

2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
Spike's important to the general plot in that...he's time and again challenged the mythology given by the Wathcers Council, which was believed by the general audience. Spike was the ultimate wild card to the general plot, so yes.

3) Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally?
Absolutely. More than any other character, actually. It's been ridiculously easy [for me] to get inside Spike's head, and his voice...I think the biggest difference emotionally is that, Spike doesn't like to be alone. I, however, don't mind it. Mostly.

4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
Well, it is the only fandom I'm an active participant in. Even if my participation has been lacking lately...

5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
I ship Spike with Angel, and I have shipped him with Buffy, and I'm working on shipping him with Kendra. Before it was shot to shit, I loved his platonic relationship with Dawn, and if things had been different, I could have seen it as a romantic one. Also, Spike and Giles before the Giles weirdness in s7...I would have loved to have seen more Spike/Gunn friendship. I think Spike had the potential to mesh with just about any character in both 'verses. Well, main characters...and not Riley in any capacity. He truly was cardboard.

6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
Not necessarily. I loved where he was headed at the close of Ats, and honestly, I thought they were headed at letting us see that since Spike's resurrection, all that time as being a champion officially, that he had no soul. Minority--I know.

7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how would you see yourself interacting with him/her? Would you get along well? Fall in love with him/her? Dislike? Have a friendly rivalry?
Strip away the vampire bit so that he could fit in this world believably, yes, I could go for the tender poet with the rebel exterior. British accent doesn't hurt...

8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
Spike is my number one; no question.

9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about this character (if you dislike) to someone new to fandom?
I already have :p Spike is a big reason I promote the show BtVS. Without him, I think I would have stopped watching indefinitely during s4.

10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?
Depends on what circle you run in. A ton of folks truly love Spike. However, I am aware of the rampant Spike hate.
