Okay so again it’s been months since I made a post here but I figured I wanted to document this here in it’s full glory now that it’s finally over. I probably lost some of the more juicy details but this is gonna be a documentation of the last 7 months when I was tutoring a 12 kid from hell.

so a few months back, when I finished my postgrad studies ( Read more... )

That's why I prefer to tutor adults and older teens. So far I had

-my mom's colleague from work, 3 years older than me, also never studied, never did her homework and expected to be fluent. acted like a child. she quit after a year.
-a dude who was in collage and asked me to tutor him for a retake oral exam in B2 English. Was surprised that I told him to speak every lesson. We managed till his exam.
-a middle school girl who wanted to prepare for the middle school exam and she actually did well and wanted to learn but then I got an internship and I had to move the lessons one hour further and she and her mother cancelled.
-a 30 something couple, who wanted to speak better, they were actually super cool and even if they lived far from me, I always looked forward to those lessons. They quit after a month for whatever reason.
-AND THIS SPAWN OF THE DEVIL.

tbh, I actually like thinking up lessons, talking, testing etc etc. It's very satisfying when you teach someone WHO REALLY WANTS TO. but only then.

And I'm not a teacher, I'm just a tutor I don't need to put up with this shit.

Thanks though <3

The only sample of tutoring I had was with literature and a bit with a kid I was helping to read easier, but yeah, I'm neither patient nor organized enough for that. ;) But yeah, it seems easier or at least more pleasant to do, when you're teaching someone who wants to learn. And I guess with adults there's a plus of them being able to quit, when they don't want to bother any more. Kids can be pushed by the parents, even when they're fed up with the subject and that just gets annoying to everyone involved. :/
