(no subject)
Work yesterday was tough. There was some convention in town and everyone wanted Sunday afternoon brunch at the "alien cafe". Dad loves the business but I really hate when there are THAT many people. And tourists are almost always rude. But luckily everyone but Courtney could come in today. She asked for the day off to practice in Alex's band. But Maria, Tess and I were all working our butts off.
Finally the rush died and we were all getting off of work. I was wiping down the tables in my section when Tess came up to me.
"How are you holding up? Everything going alright?"
I wiped a strand of hair out of my face with the back of my hand and looked at her. "Yeah, uh-huh" And went back to wiping. "How about you?"
She sat down at the table. "I'm doing ok. I just wanted to make sure things were ok since you're kinda....you know....in the middle of everything."
I laughed and sat across from her. "Yeah, i guess it's just my destiny, huh?" I sighed. "But Tess, I know things were kinda tough between us in the beginning, but I wanted to let you know how much I really appreciate your support and help. Thank you so much for that."
Tess smiled and was about to respond when Maria peeked her head from the kitchen. "Will you two come and help me out here! I'm not going to do this all by myself!"
Tess and I looked at each other and giggled and stood up to get back to work. "Yes dear!" I yelled over my shoulder as I continued wiping down the tables. Between Tess and Maria, I think I've got some great girls.
