So my husband recently bought me "Titanic" on Blueray (which looks fabulous) and I've been watching it nearly every other day. And while I still love it, I gotta say after closer inspection, Rose as a person is a bit of a douche.( ... )
I didn't leave a reply the other night when you linked me.
THIS!
Now I know why I love to hate it. My sister was freaking obsessed, watched it three times in one day and I was so done!
I always wanted to be Rose when I was ten, loved by two men, living lavishly, having the time of my life on a ship, but as an adult I see EVERYTHING wrong with her. I get that Cameron was maybe trying to give us the 'foolish, young love' angle, but Rose was a bit too modern as mentioned. Honestly a lady in those times was not so bold, unless she was of the underground writing type. And don't even get me started on her selfishness with the door! If anything she could've stayed in the life boat and let him have the door, increase his chances of surviving. I definitely would've been the woman hollering 'bitch' after she jumped out of that life boat, that was a spot I could've had!
I think the Poor boy with the rich (though in debt) girl was endearing. To show that love wasn't superficial. But I don't believe in love at first sight and I always had major qualms with the movie even portraying a love story. That is not what Titantic was, but I get that the love story was needed to make my heart bleed even more for such a tragic event.
Anyways ramblings aside, this was very amusing! And now I have even more reason to ignore the movie whenever it is on after I get my peek at young Leo :3
