Let it Snow!

As long as I get home before it sticks to the ground. That's my new motto. And I take it very, very, very seriously. I've read that several of my flist were stuck in long commutes on Wed. evening.

I faired really, really well. And here's why.

A coworker of mine lives close to me. She got a call around 3:30 that there was snow in the north and it seemed to be heading south. I also checked weather.com for hourly weather conditions that were predicted in Seattle and in Kent where I live. When the chance of percipitation in both for the next hour was over 50% I booked it out. My coworker left at 4. I left by 4:30. I got some snow, hail and sleet on the drive and at one point couldn't see the lane markers on I-5...but I was not delayed in my commute and returned home in the standard hour it frequently takes during after-work traffic!

I arrived home shortly after vanderbolt. Who was wondering the house rather annoyed and marking areas of our floor and other flat surfaces with peices of papertown. In the center of each I could see a little pinkish-red stain. The cat was suffering terribly from some kind of urinary inflamation. When that happens she also tends to throw up. I had the honor of finding that with my luckily shoed foot while I was snacking on some bread in the kitchen. Yuck.

We called the vet and got Pounce an appointment for Thursday. Of course no one could drive anywhere really on the Thursday morning. So then we had to reschedule for the afternoon for her. Vanderbolt's work was closed, I telecomuted. Pounce acted like nothing happened. Hated her trip to the vet (peed all over the vet...so at least they got a urine sample...though it wasn't exactly sterile). And came home with no meds to help her and leaving us with a $140 bill that would have been more...but they kinda forgot about her and Vanderbolt sitting in the exam room for almost an hour...and as a result gave us the annual exam for free. Joy!
