So a few days ago I planned to post a lovely entry about how great a year it's been, how wonderful a holiday we've had and how generous our friends and family have been.
Thats all still true...but I was hit with a terrible illness that had me spiking a 100.2 fever, vomiting and experiencing soreness and chills. A trip to the urgent care center left me with the distinct feeling that health care is more or less random and the knowledge that I'm not dying so I should go 'home' and sleep.
Of course we aren't home, we're at my in-laws. That's not a bad thing.
vanderbolt's folks are awesome and have a really relaxing house. Plus with strict 'no-fly' orders from the urgent care center, I'm forced to relax here and there's no risk of me feeling a tiny bit better and then trudging off to work and getting all sick again. I joked to my husband that he figured out the only way to keep me away from work and resting when I'm sick: make sure I'm sick three thousand miles from work...and then change my flight plans while I'm puking out my guts. :) It worked!
I'm feeling better today...but only after sleeping till noon. Mom - don't worry, I may not have your chicken soup deluxe to fix me up, but the family out here are trying their best to get me well.
So we'll be back in Seattle a bit later than expected.
Oh and Happy New Year!
