From Zero to 60 in 2.0 seconds

That's what it feels like. A few days ago, I wasn't very motivated. The last two days are very different. One thing that I didn't really realize was that taking a look at my entire financial picture was going to force a lot of little adjustments and one big change. Because we both made a pledge to save more money and both started automatic deposits into a savings account, we are both feeling cash poor - as our money is now locked away in a vault. That's the big change!

We've been doing this regularly with 401K plans and our Roth IRA plans but now we thought we'd get serious with creating a little breathing room and starting a more liquid savings plan. What this is doing in the short term is making us re-evaluate every choice. Do we NEED this? Is it IMPORTANT? Can it WAIT? Needless to say - there are a lot fewer lattes in my life and a lot more wish lists.

That said...before these resolutions really took hold - we agreed to hire someone to paint three rooms in our house as a Christmas Present to ourselves. We got the quote and with some haggling it's now affordable. But the timeline is NOW. Tonight we have to go home and move all the furniture in those three rooms into one other room! AND we still have to pick a color for the front room - YIKES!

The front room is going to be a brown (we don't know the shade)
The dining room is going to be a deep red
The kitchen and nook are going to be orange

We like autumn: a lot!

These rooms are in walk-through connection with a light yellow room that has a dark green bathroom off of it and a hallway that is a very light coffee color that leads up a stairwell accented with a dark green wall. I'm pretty stoked that this is going to finally happen. It's what we've wanted since we moved in several years ago!!! Before pictures must be taken tonight...I'll try to post before and afters later this week or next.

Also - we are going to the Opera on Sunday. I'm tempted to dress up b/c I have this killer formal outfit that I want to wear again now that I'm about to get it back from the cleaners :)
