canning class

I took a canning class that was very fun yesterday. Offered by a fellow SYGW board member and put up for 'grabs' at the last auction - we had a lot of fun canning peaches and making pickles. It was nice. My good friend onsafari was there too and we went out for dinner after to chat and to celebrate her promotion at work. It's not a total celebration b/c she doesn't have a full staff yet (for instance she needs to replace herself in her old position) but it was fun. We shared a bottle of wine, some awesome pasta and two entirely unnecessary but wonderful desserts.

My husband picked me up from the restaurant b/c after slightly more than a 1/2 bottle of wine: I'm no good for driving. I was good for making my husband laugh :)

This weekend was marked by several things other than the canning class. Friday night I slept from before 7pm to well after 8am. I slept less on Saturday night - but not much less and that was only b/c I had gone to bed before 8pm on Thursday. Not sure what all the need for sleep was about - but there it was.

This AM I woke up feeling kinda meh. We'll see if it plays out to be allergies, wine, or something that I couldn't fight off with all that sleep.

Yesterday I ate a lot. But I will say that the filet mignon from the mini-cows is wonderful. I don't think we'll buy a section of cow anytime soon - but we will go back up the road the next time we plan to have beef. With the possible exception of ground beef. Not sure on that - I seem to still like the texture of corn fed ground beef for certain things. Also - that ground beef cooked up nicely, but it wasn't exactly as fatty as I like.

weekend, food
