What do your ancestors mean to you?

I'm not sure that I can say much about my ancestors. As far as I know, they are mostly dead and gone except for my parents who are out terrorizing the night, courtesy of a few vampiric goons. I really don't know very much about anyone other than my parents since my parents were taken from me when I was very young. They never had a chance to tell me what my relatives were like. I know both of my parents had an artistic streak, but other than that, nothing.
Now, my last name "Metternich" is a well known name in Austria, a very famous noble family named von Metternich ruled there. Whether I am actually related to that family, I don't know. I think a few of my relatives did come from Austria, but I don't know any details. Perhaps if I have some time I will do some genealogical research to learn if I am.
