Hmm...that's the problem. If I could figure which I'd respond to best I'd use it on myself. I generally respond to emotional bludgeoning/brutalising, but it doesn't always make me very happy. :p I like the use of action tags.
Oooh, Riff, haven't given you thought in a while, muffin.
♠ Riff has always had the sense that time is running out - it's not an overt feeling, just a faint sense of unease, like a clock ticking somewhere in the distance. He's had it for as long as he can remember. The only thing that seems to stop its relentless noise is Cain's smile, and the serenity that comes with lacing Cain's shoes and pouring Cain's tea.
♠ If Riff were to kill anyone, it would be Alexis. Sometimes he fantasises about it, and shocks himself at how bloody those fantasies are. Still, he's wanted to kill Alexis from the first time he saw those scars, and the tears in Cain's helpless green eyes.
♠ As Cain turned from child to young man, Riff found int increasingly difficult to ignore his casual touches and the light of desire that would flicker through his eyes. When Cain started picking up women and tossing them aside like wilted flowers Riff was jealous, but relieved in a way, because though he loved Cain with all his heart, he wasn't sure he could touch Cain without breaking him. Without shattering everything that is between them. It doesn't stop him from wondering, sometimes, what would happen if he didn't hold his young master at an arms length, and if he surrendered to Cain's beguiling smile.
Sorry they were so lacking in lolz. :p Riff is just not very lolzy.

Thankyou! As ever, you've captured your character delightfully. Alas, Riff is rather lacking in lolz. He only really seems to amuse when Girl!Cain is around, and then that's largely by association. Because GIrl!Cain makes every situation hilarious. Or is that just for me? XD
I love your take on RIff's changing feelings as Cain grew up. The emotions between those two are always so hard to figure out, because they seem obsessed but always make sure to maintain that distance. As you suggest, I suppose that's because of their feelings - their fear of shattering things.
...All that said? COME ON, GUYS. Just one kiss, I beg you! -_-
