♠ Well, yes, I said I would write fic over Christmas. Apparently this was, in fact, a lie. I don't know if anyone actually cares...I admit I have been procrastinating something dreadful, and I've also been trying to kick my habit of reading fanfiction instead of actual fiction, because I like to try to read some novels with a degree of literary integrtiy every now and again. However, there are things in the workds, it's just they may remain indefinitely in the works while I flail around attempting to cope with real life, incluing the fact I'm going overseas in less than two weeks, so I have quite a bit to do.
♠ On the subject of things lith literary integrity, you will never guess what I found the other day. And actual novel. With actual canon slash. It's called Ink and Steel, it's by Elizabeth Bear and it was pretty good. I'm not saying it's the next The Secret History or anything, but it is delightful as a slightly trashy read. The main character, Kit Marley (Christofer Marley), is Christopher Marlowe with a slightly different name. :p He is murdered at the beginning of the novel (I'm not being spoilery, you can get this from the blurb), but is resurrected as a knight of the faerie court. He proceeds to then have torrid sex with several secondary characters. Like Murcahud the faerie prince. When I was in Dymocks, looking randomly for somehting to read, I pulled it off the shelf and opened to a random page, which turned out to be a duel between Kit and Murchaud that ended with them kissing passionately. I nearly dropped the book. :p So, if anyone wants actual fantasy with boylove...it's damn good. And you will end up shipping Kit/Will Shakespeare. I know you will. ;)
♠ I am playing Tekken 6. It is badass as fuck. Man. Unfortunately, for some reason, the text is very small on my screen so any written instructions are problematic. Of course, I am not hugely bothered, because I seem to be doing alright (though I am, it would seem, better with sowrds than I am with martial arts style games), and as long as there are buff men hitting things I am content. Yes, I am a shallow girl. I never pretended otherwise. I don't fangirl all the time, but this is my LJ. It is my record of fangirlish fuckery.
♠ A friend of mine just leant me the first 10 or so volumes of Bleach, so that should keep me occupied for at least, oh, a couple of hours. We all know I'm only reading for Byakuya and Renji, but I am actually enjoying the earlier volumes regardless. Ichigo amuses me, because although I am a bitter, cynical old woman who likes reading about pretty boys embracing each other, there is a part of me that likes Ichigo and his down-to-earth heroism. I know the angst is imminent, but I'm enjoying the...innocence, I suppose, of the early story.
♠ On that note, I think I'm going to go practice my Tekken tehcnique.
♠ Oh, OH, and I'm going to see Sherlock Holmes today! I can't wait! I had fangasms all throughout the trailer when I saw Avatar, so I am pumped! Victorian England! Explosions! Slashy subtext that is nearly text! YEEEEEEES.
