"Sam The Swarthy" Boondocks fic

Mar 18, 2006 13:30

Once again, Huey found himself working on “Sam The Swarthy” again and again.
It was a story about a world in where there were no oceans, just vast, vast desserts. Sam was a noble sailor of these, vast, vast, desserts. He commanded his noble ship, the Faithful Traveler.
Unlike many other heroes of adventure fiction, Sam was dark, dark as night and so was his faithful crew. He and his crew found adventure everywhere they went, fighting off pirates, wizards and corrupt merchants.
Unlike most of his other writing, there were no conscious political messages (plenty of unconscious ones though). It was sort of his guilty comfort during times of stress.
Huey started the story the day after his parents had died and his maternal grandfather died soon after them, thus most of the beginning chapters were misspelled and had tear stains on them.
He stopped after he moved in with his granddad and he had to focus on readjusting to a new life.
He started on “Sam The Swarthy” again when his granddad told them they were moving to Woodcrest. Three chapters on Sam and his crew getting separated in a storm.
Then he stopped as he decided to devote himself to bringing revolution to Woodcrest. But bullshit kept happening to him, and he found himself retreating into “Sam The Swarthy” once more.
After the his brother and his two idiots friends tried to kidnap Oprah, there was a chapter in where Sam the Swarthy fought a noble ronin, who later joined his crew.
After his reunion with Cairo, Sam the Swarthy got betrayed by his Zyrule, his best friend and second in command.
After Ed Wuncler 1 tricked Jazmine into becoming slave labor, Sam, his crew and another band of noble sailors destroyed the business of a evil merchant who had an expansive empire. The merchant later met his end via hungry flesh eating ants.
It seemed like every week brought some new chapters.
When Huey turned 18, he had written 4 567-642 page books.
When he graduated college with a degree in political science he had almost 8.
At 29 years old, with 4 political manuscripts rejected, living in a shabby rat infested apartment and having not brought on the revolution he had worked so hard on, he decided to edit “Sam The Swarthy” and submit those to publishers.
At 31, a small independent publisher called “New Thoughts” accepted “Sam The Swarthy”.
At 40 years old, Huey had 12 Sam The Swarthy books published, his 4 previously rejected political book had been top sellers, and had met countless new little revolutionaries at bookshop appearances. New Thoughts was now a publishing force to reckon with.
At the age of 50, Huey saw several third parties vie instead of buy for presidency.
At the age of 78, years after he said he was retiring, he wrote a new book “Revolution via Swordfight Adventures: How I Surprisingly Gained Political Power Through Youth Lit.”
