On Saturday SammyHubby needed a few hours’ peace and quite to get started on his uni studies for this semester. Since its sales season, I thought I would amuse myself for a few hours by going shopping, something I haven’t done in (what feels like) ages.
First on my list was a new sports bra. Since I had a flyer telling me I’d get an extra 15% off at Myer on the weekend, I decided that Myer was as good as anywhere for my underwear needs. After selecting the one I wanted, I thought I’d see what was on the clearance racks…and walked out with an extra bra and 4 pr of bamboo/cotton blend knickers. Bamboo/cotton blend knickers have been on my list of things to buy for some months now, so it’s OK, I told myself as I handed over the credit card.
Next on the list was a pair of boots - preferably brown knee high or black flat soled. I didn’t find anything that was "me” at a price I was willing to pay (even with the 25% off already marked down shoes), but I did find an incredibly sexy pair of black shoe-boots. Shoe boots were on last winter’s "to-buy’ list but I didn’t find any I liked. Since I have 2 weddings coming up in the spring, the price was reasonable after the 25% off, and another shopper commented on how nice they were, I decided to buy them rather than regret letting them go to someone else. My credit-card and I were very pleasantly surprised to find that the 15% general merchandise discount applied on top of the initial 25% shoe discount. They are possibly the sexiest shoes I have ever owned - photos to follow (our camera arrived last week form the in-laws, yay).
Then to Lincraft, where I spent over an hour considering, comparing and coordinating to come away with:
- Grey-blue silk dupion for SammyHubby’s Vulcan robe @ $10/m
- Navy blue bemsilk lining for above @ $2.50/m
- Purple cotton velveteen (ostensibly for my Vulcan robe, but I bought the whole roll) @ $6.50/m
- "Sunflower” cotton/linen blend for making “saffron shirts” or leines (the whole roll approx 12 m) @ $4.50/m
- "Olive” cotton/linen blend for a summer dress for me @ $4.50/m
- “Chocolate” pure linen (the last of the roll 2.25m) @ $10/m
- Paisley print chiffon for a summer top for me
- Lilac lace to make a dress for the weddings
- Purple lining for the dress for the weddings
The things I forgot:
- Lining for my robe
- Fabric to make my mother’s b’day present (outstanding since April, since she hasn’t sent me her measurements!)
- Vilene for tracing Burda patterns
- thread
- fastenings
- bias tape
I have some work to do! Next up, I need to make a sewing project timeline, otherwise I’ll get distracted with one project and suddenly realise I’ve run out of time for another.
