Just Eat...

At least once a day anyway. Pretty much what I'm down to since I can still only taste certain things. The list: salt, sugar, chocolate, carrots, cottage cheese, macaroni salad, steak, graham crackers and canned chicken noodle soup. The accompanying smell of these items remain incorrect but who ever said Covid long haul was going to synchronize taste to smell anyway?

I now have food in my freezer that's been there well paste its eat-by date and remains there only to help keep the freezer cold. Any of my tried and true recipes are disastrous and inedible to me. Seems as though once the vegetables are cooked they take on that "one-smell" (an odd undefinable smell that fits everything) that in no way resembles the smell of food. Any junk food of the chip or cracker sort, once the bag is pried open, wafts that unsatisfying smell up at me but that's okay since I was only eating for the salt on them. Some food I eat just to feel full but really how much food does one need.

Good thing I'm not really hungry. And when I get that way I eat till I'm full, some I can taste, some not. The fallout is that I find myself scouring recipes online for casseroles and soups that look delicious - harking back to when I was eating really good food. When neighbor asked me about pouring over recipes I told him I do it so I can print them off for him.

It's now a small diet mindful of the basic 4. It's working for now. Cold Winter, cold food, we'll see how that works out.
